ABOUT THE LAB

The lab group focuses on studying the mechanisms of human RNA regulation in physiological processes and disease. In particular, it seeks to understand the class of RNA-binding proteins related to cancer and neurology.

In mechanistic terms, our group studies the elucidation of sets of mRNAs bound by specific proteins under a given cellular condition. We also elucidate the sets of proteins that participate in these complexes (interactome) using cellular models. In parallel, we produce recombinant proteins to employ them in biochemical methods and in crystallography to elucidate the mechanism of action of RNA-binding proteins. In addition, the group develops bioinformatics analyses for the area of RNA regulation.

The laboratory gave origin to the Center for Medicinal Chemistry at Unicamp (CQMED) of CBMEG, accredited as a Unit of the Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
